Workshop
»SHAPING THE ENERGY TRANSITION. AESTHETIC, SOCIAL AND ECOLOGICAL CHALLENGES«
Conception: Frank Fehrenbach, Lutz Hengst
Date: 01 / 02 Oktober 2021
Venue: Gorch-Fock-Wall 3, 20354 Hamburg
Description
The forum »Shaping the energy transition«, initiated by Frank Fehrenbach and Lutz Hengst, focuses on the question of design in the current debate about the energy transition - i.e. a turn away from an energy supply based on fossil sources towards the use of mainly green electricity. Yet the esthetics of the plants and infrastructures that have already been built for its production and provision, and are still to become widespread, have hardly been negotiated so far. We are convinced that this aspect in particular can be a key to increase the acceptance of the energy transition and to design its implementation in a way that is compatible with the landscape. The term "landscape compatibility" alone opens up a horizon of historical, regional and social references that must be discussed from a scientific perspective.
After a first online workshop on December 4, 2020, we want to continue the transdisciplinary exchange on October 1 and 2, 2021 in a focused circle at Gorch-Fock-Wall, also with the perspective of a first public forum.
This time, Sonja Asal, Mascha Fehse, Martin Flade, Susanne Hauser, Gerhard Matzig, Birgit Recki, Winfried Schenk, Georg Toepfer, Tim Tröndle, Günther Vogt and Cornelia Zumbusch will present papers and participate in the discussion.
