As part of the lecture series »Energy – Landscape – Aesthetics«, Marcus Twellmann will give a talk on »Energetische Abhängigkeit und kulturelle Vormacht. Zur neueren Stadt- und Landliteratur« on December 12, 2024.

A clear difference between city and country, as the traditional dichotomy claims, is hard to prove empirically today. Some research approaches rightly emphasize a process of socio-spatial interdependence. However, the 'energy transition' is associated with an unfair distribution of benefits and burdens. The emergence of new functional spaces in rural areas provokes protests that are also politically co-opted. How does narrative literature relate to social polarization?
