Dr. Antonia Villinger, Postdoc at the DFG Research Training Group 2806 »Literature und the Public Sphere in Differentiated Contemporary Cultures« at the Friedrich-Alexander University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, holds a lecture on the topic »›Im Ruhrgebiet‹ mit Heinrich Böll und Chargesheimer. Literarische und fotografische Perspektiven auf Steinkohle und Energie«.

The lecture examines the energy landscape of the Ruhr region based on Heinrich Böll and Chargesheimer's 1958 publication »Im Ruhrgebiet«. Following research contributions from the Energy Humanities, the focus is on the presentation of coal mining, its workers, and the industrial landscape. The lecture relates Böll's texts to Chargesheimer's photographs.
