Research project: FORZA FEMME II . NOTHING BUT FAILURE: THE QUESTIONING OF THE SUBJECT IN THE NAME OF POWER
ff. –
F wie Kraft
Kraft, die [Substantiv, feminin]
fortissimo – sehr laut, sehr stark, sehr kräftig.
ff. – [energeia/dynamis, virtus, vis, impetus, forza] forza femme
Eine Kraftprobe. Ein Kraftakt. Ein Kraftwerk.
– außer Kraft setzen.
Die Entkräftung.
In the context of her artistic research project forza femme, Fanti Baum asks what power is in the first place: [energeia/dynamis, virtus, vis, impetus, forza] forza femme - and tries to confront the concept of power/strength with a feminist perspective. At the same time, forza femme focuses on the artist's dictum: their non-ability, explores between muscle mass and iron bars how the world might be otherwise, and listens to the demands of the forms to form what transcends any form -.
"I AM IN TRAINING - DON'T KISS ME".

What happened so far:
ff. - forza femme: the studio as a weight room
As part of her eight-month fellowship, Fanti Baum set up a weight room in the studio at Akademie Schloss Solitude. This was initially intended to be a place to gather strength in the midst of art and to get physically strong at the same time. ff. - forza femme: for the challenge of life and art. For in art, too, the studio is the Grande Boucle Fémine Internationale. This was followed by conversations with artists, athletes and scientists about the concept of strength in real or fictitious weight rooms (financed by Auf geht's - Stipendium für freie Künstler*innen from NRW).
Research results: FORZA FEMME II . NOTHING BUT FAILURE: THE QUESTIONING OF THE SUBJECT IN THE NAME OF POWER
After working on the installation forza femme: Das Atelier als Kraftraum in the studio of Akademie Schloss Solitude, the residency at the Hamburg DFG Centre for Advanced Studies Imaginaria of Force primarily served the intensive reading of concepts of force and the question of where theoretical and aesthetic texts, materials, ideas can be found that elude a classical understanding of force and in which queer-feminist positionings with and against force can be identified. From an artistic perspective, questions about translations into one's own artistic practice remained virulent even during the time in the blue sea of ice - there could be no better place to get lost in thought. The time as an artist in residence at the DFG Centre for Advanced Studies Imaginaria of Force provided an impressive opportunity for an interdisciplinary exchange that will accompany my thinking for a long time to come.
Beyond the inspirational exchanges we shared (on bodies, movement, dynamics), there was an intensive reading of texts by Judith Butler, Barbara Gronau, Elfriede Jelinek, Kathy Acker, Paul B. Preciado, and Claude Cahun, as well as an in-depth exploration of concepts of feminist gravity and counterweight, radical care and caregiving, as well as an investigation of power substances such as smelling salts, ecstasy, and testosterone. In reading the concepts and texts of forces / strength, the question of the potential of invalidation, of powerlessness, of weakness, of holding forces and the possibility of fugitivity always arose at the same time.
What emerged were conceptions of force dialogues, scores for a happening, 3: a triad of Kraftprobe, Kraftakt, and Kraftwerk, which in their potential realization focus on moments of Un-Learning, Un-Strengthening, and Ent-werkung.
